Expert in Participatory Foresight and Strategic Futures
Chun-Yin San is a globally recognised leader in participation-led strategic foresight, with over a decade of experience helping governments, international organisations, and communities navigate uncertainty and shape inclusive, future-ready strategies. A pioneer in the field of Participatory Futures, Chun-Yin co-authored the seminal Our Futures report in 2017, establishing a globally adopted framework for democratising long-term decision-making.
Currently leading the Strategy, Foresight, and Futures practice at ThinkPlaceˣ, Chun-Yin partners with institutions such as the Asian Development Bank, Australian and Singaporean governments, and multilateral organisations to design future-fit policy through inclusive processes. His work combines deep strategy, explorative foresight, and systems insight—delivered through engaging, participatory methods.
Chun-Yin is known for creating energising spaces where diverse voices shape shared futures. His recent work on Australia’s National Strategy for Volunteering and a modern workforce strategy for agriculture received Australian Good Design Awards in 2023.
He holds a Master’s in Science Communication and a Bachelor’s in Biomedical Science from Imperial College London, and is completing an Executive MBA at UNSW AGSM. A member of the Association of Professional Futurists, Chun-Yin regularly contributes to global thought leadership through speaking, teaching, and writing across the Asia-Pacific.
