Abbey Cooper is a human-centred designer and communications specialist with deep expertise in navigating complex social, health, and emergency service systems. With a background in sociology and professional writing, Abbey brings a unique blend of analytical rigour and creative strategy to her work—ensuring every solution is inclusive, evidence-informed, and culturally grounded.
She has delivered impactful outcomes across public health, education, and emergency services, with a focus on access, autonomy, and ethical design. Her work with Queensland Ambulance Services led to significant improvements in emergency response communication, enabling safer access to critical patient information. At the Department of Home Affairs, she supported stakeholder engagement for regulatory change and service innovation.
Abbey is adept at stakeholder and community engagement, combining research, facilitation, and empathy to capture lived experience and inform better policy and service outcomes. She has co-designed projects with Prime Minister & Cabinet, focusing on future visioning for Australia, and helped transform paper-based health systems to secure, user-focused digital platforms.
Her writing and communication skills are informed by over a decade of experience in clinical, academic, and corporate settings. Abbey holds dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Sociology and Creative & Professional Writing from La Trobe University.
Abbey is currently studying her Masters in Advanced Practice, distinguishing her focus on systems re-design for Health and Human Services. She has the ambition of improving service delivery and experience for both patients, and the workforce.
