Dr Nina Terrey is a Partner at ThinkPlaceX, where she leads Co-Design Sustainable Futures. Dr. Nina Terrey is a globally recognised pioneer in strategic design, public sector co-design, and the transformation of complex systems. With more than two decades of experience, she has shaped the evolution of co-design practice in public policy and service design—helping governments, organisations, and communities reimagine how systems can better serve people and planet.
Nina is known for advancing design-led innovation at scale. She works with senior leaders across governments, global NGOs, philanthropic organisations, and industry–academic partnerships to navigate complexity and drive change. Her expertise spans public policy design, systems innovation, and complex co-design.
At the forefront of strategic design globally, Nina has led major reforms in health, energy, sustainability, social services, gender equity, and climate resilience—bringing human-centred methods into the heart of decision-making. She builds inclusive, high-trust environments where diverse voices shape meaningful futures.
Nina’s continued thought leadership now focuses on sustainable and regenerative systems as vital frontiers for the design discipline. She is currently writing and researching in this space and undertaking further study in sustainability through the Harvard Extension School’s Master’s program.
She holds a PhD in Managing by Design and serves as an adjunct professor at leading universities. Her work has received international recognition for excellence in public innovation and co-design. A sought-after speaker, author, and advisor, Nina continues to influence how institutions embed co-design and foresight to achieve more just, sustainable outcomes.
